How to Use This Notepad

This is the simplest notepad on the internet. Type anything, anywhere, anytime — your text is saved automatically to your browser. No login. No syncing setup. No "save your work" dialogs. Just type.

1

Start typing immediately

The page loads with an empty note ready to go. Every character you type is saved to your browser's localStorage within milliseconds. Refresh the page, close the tab, restart your computer — your note will be exactly where you left it.

2

Create multiple notes

Click "+ New Note" to start a fresh note. Switch between notes using the tabs at the top. Useful for keeping work separate from personal, or splitting projects into separate scratchpads.

3

Export when you need to share

Click Export to download your note as a .txt file. Use Copy to send the full text to your clipboard. Both work even on very long notes.

What people use this for

Meeting notes

Open the page when a meeting starts, type as it happens. The note persists even if your laptop sleeps mid-meeting. Export to .txt at the end if you need to share.

Code snippets and command lines

A temporary place to paste a long terminal command, a SQL query, or a code snippet you're transferring between machines. Faster than emailing yourself.

Daily journal

Bookmark this page and write a few lines each morning or evening. Your entries stay in the browser, completely private.

Brain dump before a focused work session

Use it before a Pomodoro to dump every distracting thought out of your head. Once it's on the page, your brain can let it go and focus on what matters.

Quick draft before writing emails

Draft a tricky email here first, edit until it sounds right, then paste into your email client. Avoids accidentally clicking Send before you're ready.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my notes saved automatically?

Yes. Every keystroke saves to localStorage instantly. There's no "Save" button because there doesn't need to be one.

Is anything sent to a server?

Never. Your notes stay 100% in your browser. WorkIQ has no servers that store user content. Nothing leaves your device.

Will my notes sync to my phone?

No. To keep this free and private, there's no cloud sync. Use the Export button to move a note between devices.

What happens if I clear browser data?

Your notes will be deleted along with the browser data. Export important notes before clearing site data.

Can I create multiple notes?

Yes. Click "+ New Note" to create a new note. Switch between them with the tabs. Each note saves independently.

Is there a size limit?

localStorage typically allows 5–10 MB per site, which is about 5 million characters. More than enough for any reasonable note-taking.
