What people use the Wheel of Names for

This spinning wheel makes random selection visual and fun. It's used by teachers to pick students, by managers to pick team members, by streamers for giveaway draws, by families to decide where to eat, and for any moment when "let's just pick randomly" needs to feel fair and entertaining.

1

Add your names

Type one name per line in the box on the right. The wheel updates automatically as you type. You can paste a list from Excel, Notes or a chat — line breaks become separate slices.

2

Click SPIN

The wheel spins for a few seconds and lands on a random name. The pointer on the right shows the winner. The result is genuinely random — no rigging, no hidden weights.

3

Remove or keep the winner

Click "Remove winner" to take the chosen name off the wheel before the next spin — useful when picking unique winners for multiple prizes or tasks.

Common use cases

Classrooms

Teachers pick students for questions, presentations or partner pairings without showing favoritism. Add your class roster once and spin throughout the day.

Giveaways and contests

Paste comment usernames or signups into the wheel. The visual spin makes the draw feel fair to viewers — perfect for live streams or social media.

Team meetings

"Who's writing the meeting notes today?" Spin it. "Who's presenting first?" Spin it. Removes office politics from small decisions.

Decisions

Can't decide what to eat, what movie to watch, or which task to tackle first? Put the options on the wheel and let randomness decide.

Games

Pick the next player's turn, choose a random challenge, decide who buys the next round. Works for in-person parties and online game nights.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it really random?

Yes. The result uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator. There's no weighting, no influence from previous spins, no rigging.

How many names can I add?

Hundreds work fine. With more than ~50 names the slices become small and labels hard to read, but the random selection still works.

Is my list saved?

Yes. Your list saves automatically in your browser. Close the tab and your list will be there next time.

Can I save multiple lists?

Currently one list at a time. Copy your list to a separate document (or use the Notes tool) when switching between groups.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The wheel scales to fit your screen and spinning works on touch devices.

Can I weight some names higher than others?

Add duplicates of the names you want weighted heavier. Two entries = double the chance.
